The flower of this plant is one among the 10 auspicious flowers called as “Dasapushpam” in Kerala, India.
The oil from this herb makes the hair black when applied locally.
This herb is a powerful and very good liver tonic.
It is a vermifungal, rejuvenator, and is good for eyes, hair, skin and teeth.
The plant is rubbed on the gums for tooth ache.
This herb is good for people 
suffering from anemia.
It removes the toxins from liver and has a direct beneficial effect on the spleen and liver.
The leaf is used for treating scorpion stings.

Jaundice:
Take fresh leaves, wash cleanly and ground to make a juice of one quarter to half a spoonful. Take this once a day, early in the morning. Within seven to fourteen days, this will cure viral infective hepatitis as well as obstructive hepatitis. Also the patient’s liver returns to normal.
Clinically it is proved to be one of the best tonics for liver.
Dosage should not be increased since it has an emetic and nauseating effect.

Alopecia Areata:
Alopecia Areata is a small bald patch on the scalp or body.
To cure this, take a genuine ivory tusk, Rasvanti (an extract of “Daruharidra” – Latin: Berberis asiastica) and camphor. Now rub this into the juice of Bhringaraj. Apply this mixture regularly on the affected parts and hair will gradually begin to grow well.

Hair Oil for Hair Growth & Blackening:
Iron pyrite: 60 grm; Triphala*: 60 grm; Indian Sarsaparilla (Hemidesmus indicus) (Anantmula in Hindi) – 60 grm
* Triphala: Triphala is an Ayurvedic powder consisting equal quantities of three herbs namely, Amalaki or Emblic myrobalans (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki or Chebulic myrobalan (Terminalia chebula), and Bhibitaki or Beleric myrobalan (Terminalia bellirica).
Make a paste of the above ingredients by adding some water. Now add 16oz. of fresh Til oil (also known as sesame oil), 64oz. of fresh juice of Bhringaraj and some fresh juice of Indian Gooseberry (Phyllanthus emblica)(Amla in Hindi, Nellikkai in Tamil). Now heat this mixture on a slow flame till the juice evaporates. Now filter the remainder and keep it in a bottle for using.
How to use:
This hair oil should be massaged daily before bath in rotating movement of the fingers so that pores open up and oil penetrates in hair roots and pores.
Uses:
In initial stage, the immature or unripe hairs will fall and later new hairs will grow. This hair will make the hair black, stops hair fall, and prevents premature graying of hair.
