Gooseberry Amla

Indian gooseberry is a medium sized tree bearing edible fruit which is also known by the same name.
In Ayurvedha and Unani medicine, all parts of the tree are being used to make many herbal preparations. In Ayurvedha, Indian gooseberry is said to balance all the three doshas (humors) namely Vatha, Pita (Fire) and Kapha (Earth).
Indian gooseberry increases body’s resistance over disease. It improves eyesight, increases semen, vitalizes hair, purifies the blood and prevents ageing.
Indian Gooseberry is rich in vitamin C. It is a laxative and diuretic.
After surgery, cancer patients are advised by Doctors to take one Indian gooseberry every day.

Medicinal Uses:
General Body Tonic:
Crush Indian gooseberry and make a teaspoonful of fresh juice. Mix equal quantity of honey. Consume this every morning. This is a very good medicine for several ailments. It gives vigour in the body within a few days.

Diabetes:
Mix equal quantity of Indian gooseberry juice, bitter gourd juice and jamun juice. Consume one teaspoonful of this mixture twice a day.

Scurvy:
Mix Indian gooseberry powder with equal quantity of sugar. Take one teaspoonful three times daily along with milk.

Hair Tonic / Prevent Greying:
Take some Indian gooseberry and cut them into small pieces. Dry them in shade. Now boil the dried pieces of Indian gooseberry in coconut oil till the oil becomes a little dark. Apply this oil every day and take bath. This is a very good hair tonic and also will prevent greying.

Rheumatism:
Take one teaspoonful of Indian gooseberry powder and mix it with two teaspoonful of jaggery. Consume this to cure rheumatism and its troubles.

Diarrhoea and Dysentery:
Make one teaspoonful paste of Indian gooseberry leaves. Mix with honey and consume. This is a very effective medicine.

Leucorrhoea:
Powder the seeds of Indian gooseberry and mix with honey. Consume one teaspoonful to get cured.
