The Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple festival 2016 (Kodai / Koda) was started on 28.02.2016, with the hoisting of flag ceremony. The ceremony was led by Tantri Edakkode Mahadeva Iyer which began at around 5.00 A.M. and the flag was hoisted at around 7.11 A.M.

Masi Festival / Mandaikadu Kodai or Koda

This is the most important and largest festival observed in this world famous Bhagavathi Temple situated at Mandaikadu, 2 kms. from Colachel in Kanyakumari District. This Temple is called as the “Sabarimalai” of Women.
Every year, the last Tuesday of the Tamil Month “Masi” (February – March), is celebrated as the Mandaikadu Kodai Festival. Hence the Festival starts 10 days before on Sunday. This year 2016, the festival is on 8th March.
Mandaikadu Kodai 2016 date is March 8. On March 8, 2016 it is Local Holiday in Kanyakumari District.
Vast people come from Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
On 4th March 2016 (Friday), Valiya Padukkai (Maha Puja) will be held. It is the 6th day of the Festival which is very important and has more speciality.
On every day during this festival, goddess is taken around the streets of the Temple in Procession.

The Tamil Nadu Government has made necessary arrangements like
* Special busses from Nagercoil, Thuckalay, Marthandam, Kanyakumari, Kulasekharam, Kaliyakkavilai etc.
* Special bus stand in Mandaikadu.
* Medical Emergency aid & Drinking water facility, etc.

Also the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation operates special bus service from Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) for Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple festival 2016.
