Nagaraja Temple Thai Festival (தை திருவிழா)
Nagaraja Temple is one of the most famous temples in Kanyakumari district. The Annual Festival known as Thai Festival of this temple had commenced on 13th with Temple flag hoisting. It is celebrated for ten days. Everyday, Pooja rituals and special Abhisekams (Anointing) of Deities are performed.
Cultural programs are also held in the Nagaraja Thidal, near the Temple.
Nagaraja Temple Car Festival 2019
The Temple car festival, being the main event in this Thai Festival will be held on 21.01.2019. Hundreds of people from the Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu and Kerala state take part in this Car festival. The Idols are decorated and then kept in the decorated Temple Car. Then the Temple car is pulled by the devotees through the four streets of Nagaraja Thidal, near the Temple.
Morning 9.30am there is feast, at 6.30pm there is spiritual sermon (ஆன்மீக சொற்பொழிவு), at 8.15pm there is Music Debate (இசை பட்டிமன்றம்), at 9.30pm there is Sapthaavarnam (சப்தாவர்ணம்).
Festival Conclusion
The festival will conclude on 22.01.2019, being the 10th day festival. Early morning at 4.15AM, there is special abhisegam, evening 5.00pm there is special ritual (சாமி ஆராட்டுக்கு எழுந்தருளல்), 6.30pm to 8.00pm there is spiritual sermon (ஆன்மீக சொற்பொழிவு), 8.15pm there is Humor Debate (நகைச்சுவை சிந்தனை பட்டிமன்றம்).
