Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple festival 2023 (Kodai / Koda) [commonly known as Masi Kodai festival (மண்டைக்காடு பகவதி அம்மன் கோயிலில் மாசி கொடை விழா)] will be starting on 05.03.2023, with the hoisting of flag ceremony. This festival is celebrated for 10 day. It is one of the Greatest and Famous Temple Festival in Kanyakumari District.

Masi Festival / Mandaikadu Kodai or Koda

This is the most important and largest festival observed in this world famous Bhagavathi Temple situated at Mandaikadu, 2 kms. from Colachel in Kanyakumari District. This Temple is called as the “Sabarimalai of Women“.

On 5th March early morning at 4.30 AM, the Temple doors are opened followed by Ganapathi Homam at 5.00 A.M., Panchabishegam at 6.00 A.M and Deeparathanai at 6.30 A.M. The flag is hoisted at morning between 7.30 AM to 8.30 AM.

Afternoon at 1.00 P.M., there is Uchchi Kaala Pujai.

Evening at 6.00 P.M., there is Temple Golden Car Procession.

On every day during this festival, goddess is taken around the streets of the Temple in Procession.

BIG UPDATE: Hindu Maha Sammelanam will be organised by the Haindava Seva Sangham as usual [mandaikadu temple samaya manadu]

The Tamil Nadu Government has given permission to organise the Hindu Maha Sammelanam by the Haindava Seva Sangham.

Thiru. P. K. Sekar Babu, the Minister of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department came to Nagercoil on 21.02.2023 and visited Mandaikadu Bhagavathy Amman Temple and Kumarakoil Kumaraswamy Temple.

Later he came to Nagercoil Govt. Rest House. At that time, former Union Minister Mr. Pon Radhakrishnan along with the administrators from RSS, Hindu Munnani, Haindava Seva Sangam met Thiru P. K. Sekar Babu and negotiated regarding the mandaikadu temple samaya manadu issue.

Finally an decision was reached in the negotiation talks and it has been decided to hold a Massi Festival and the Hindu Conference at Mandaikkadu Bhagavathy Amman Temple in collaboration with the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department and Hainthava Seva Sangam.

Also it has been decided to change the agenda for the temple festival and conference, as per the outcome of the discussion.

Earlier Issue of Hindu Maha Sammelanam organised by the Haindava Seva Sangham

Every year, the “Hindu Maha Sammelanam”, the 10 day religious conference in connection with the festival would be organized by the Haindava Seva Sangam, for the past 85 years, from 1936. But this year, the religious conference of Haindava Seva Sangam was banned by Tamil Nadu Government stating that private religious conferences would not be permitted in Hindu Temples.

This year, it was said that the Religious conference would be directly organized by the “Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department” of the The Government of Tamil Nadu (இந்து சமய அறநிலையத் துறை).

Valiya Padukkai (Maha Pujai)

On 10th March 2023 (Friday), Valiya Padukkai Puja (Maha Puja) will be held at night 11.30 pm to 12.30 am. It is the 6th day of the Festival which is very important and has more specialty.

Odukku Pujai

On 14th March 2023 (Tuesday), Odukku Pujai and Deeparathanai will be held at midnight 11.30 pm to 12.30 am. This is the final day of the festival.

Ettam Kodai

After the festival is over, the eighth day Tuesday is called as Ettam Kodai. This year 2023, the Ettam Kodai is on 21.03.2023 at night 8.00 pm to 8.30 pm ( 21st March, 2023 Tuesday).

Meenabharani Kodai

Meenabharani is on 25.03.2023 (25th March, 2023 Saturday). Will be held at midnight 12.00 am to 1.00 am.

Full Arrangements by Govt. for Mandaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple festival 2023

Vast devotees come for the festival from various regions of Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The Tamil Nadu Government has made necessary arrangements like
* The Tamil Nadu Police has deployed sufficient police force to control the crowd and also for security of the devotees. Many watch towers has been installed in and around the Temple.
* More than 200 Special buses will be operated by TNSTC from Nagercoil, Thuckalay, Marthandam, Kanyakumari, Kulasekharam, Kaliyakkavilai, Thingal Nagar, Colachel etc.
* Special bus stand in Mandaikadu.
* Medical Emergency aid & Drinking water facility, etc.

Also the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation is likely to operate special bus service from Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) for Mondaikadu Bhagavathi Amman Temple festival 2023.
